The Story Behind DATN
Dads Against the Norm did not begin with a business plan. It began with a growing conviction that children were carrying the consequences of fatherlessness while too many people had learned to accept it as normal.
What started as a concern became personal. What became personal demanded action.
The Problem I Could Not Ignore
The crisis was visible. The cause was being accepted.
The more I looked at the consequences surrounding fatherlessness, the harder it became to treat it as one issue among many.
Behind the statistics were children growing up without the presence, protection, guidance, stability, or example they needed. The effects were not confined to one kind of family or one community. They appeared in relationships, schools, emotional health, cycles of instability, and the expectations children carried into adulthood.
What troubled me most was not only that fatherlessness existed. It was how easily society had learned to work around it instead of confronting it.

A Personal Journey
Fatherlessness was not an abstract issue to me. The more I studied its consequences, the more I saw how deeply the absence, passivity, and disengagement of fathers shaped the lives of children.
But information alone did not create Dads Against the Norm. The mission became personal when I began asking what kind of legacy I was building in my own home—and what my children would inherit from the man I chose to become.
Marriage, fatherhood, faith, and leadership forced me to confront a difficult truth: wanting to lead well is not the same as becoming the man your family needs.
DATN grew from that conviction. Families need fathers who are present, responsible, emotionally available, and willing to lead with courage. Children should not have to carry the consequences of a father's passivity.
The consequences of fatherlessness became impossible to ignore.
The mission became personal through fatherhood, faith, and responsibility.
Children should not inherit the consequences of passive fatherhood.
Dads Against the Norm was created to confront the cycle.
The Conviction
That conviction became the foundation of Dads Against the Norm. It defined the problem clearly and gave the movement a responsibility: confront fatherlessness by changing what fathers believe, how they lead, and what the next generation is taught to expect.
From Conviction to Action
DATN was built around three connected responsibilities. Each addresses a different point in the fatherlessness cycle, but all serve the same purpose: protecting children.
Help fathers already in the home become more present, intentional, accountable, and prepared to lead.
Support safe, responsible restoration when rebuilding a father-child relationship serves the child's well-being.
Prepare boys and young men with the identity, discipline, responsibility, and examples needed before fatherhood begins.
The Story Continues
The vision extends beyond one father, one family, or one coaching program.
Dads Against the Norm is being built to equip fathers, restore relationships when possible, prepare future fathers, partner with churches and communities, and change the cultural conversation surrounding fatherhood.
The story is still being written through every father who chooses to grow, every family that begins to heal, every mentor who invests in a young man, and every person who refuses to accept fatherlessness as normal.
